Born in England, Doug grew up in Cornwall Ontario, and moved to Toronto as a young adult. With a passion for art from an early age, he attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, and went on to a career in the photographic industry.
Living in Schreiber, Ontario, since 2007, Doug now concentrates on painting and photographing the north shore of Lake Superior, using the photographs as references for his watercolours.
Influenced by the Group of Seven, Ken Danby and Andrew Wyeth, Doug’s paintings have grown in popularity over the years with both corporate and private collectors in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
